Yoga for Anxiety

"Why walk through life when you can be driven by fear?” (Peanuts)

If you suffer from anxiety, your body may sweat, palpitate, or otherwise “freak out” for no apparent reason.  Conversely, your mind may dwell on negative “what if’s?,” interfering with your energy to deal effectively with your life and your ability to experience pleasure and relaxation.

Yoga for Anxiety focuses on the role of fear in your life.  You will learn the physiological correlates of chronic anxiety, be able to identify thought patterns associated with anxiety (“what if . . .?), and learn about the behavioral patterns of control and avoidance that ultimately reinforce anxiety.  Yogic techniques designed to calm physiological arousal give concrete alternatives to your anxiety driven patterns.  This group includes outside homework and group processing.
